Pure Print
Classical Printmaking in Contemporary Art

9-13 of December

Walter Batilloro: “Chalcography: from traditional to experimental”

“The workshop will consist in showing the indirect Techniques of Chalcography.
The works  represent and emphasize the particular printing results obtained through both traditional and experimental Chalcographic Techniques. These results make evident as some contaminations of innovative techniques, such as the photogravure, can interact, maintaining the rigour of  tradition and proposing at the same time an iconography able to adequately place itself  in contemporary art.
Printing procedures and methods will be showed through the presentation of graphic works, from serial reproduction  to monotype, the famous Hayter’s method included.”

Photogravure

Descriptions on process and development of photogravure through a Toner Transfert from pellicle.
Images which  have been elaborated with the use of digital procedures and of computer graphic programmes are transferred on an especial  sour-resistant pellicle, model CPM 6.4.
The pellicle is fixed to the slate with a thermic-pneumatic press.
The matrix in this way realized are subsequently granulated through colophony dust, already known for the traditional technique of aquatint and, once  exposed to etching, are ready for the printing.
