15 December 2014 to 15 January 2015

Karen Lacroix (+ Talk: Cabinet of Curiosities – History, Printing, Publishing)

This research project uses the printed medium to investigate the subject of cabinets of curiosities, also commonly known as Wunderkammer. Being traceable to the 16th century, these cabinets of wonder are collections of exotic and unusual objects reflecting the curiosity of their owners. By researching the subject’s history, symbolic qualities and physical aspects, this study proposes to explore a variety of display and archival processes which reference the multiple dimensions of the study. This will be presented in different sections in the final publication, making use of a wide range of materials and printing techniques (e.g. screen-print, RISO, …)
