Talk

23 March – 16h (Technologies Pavilion – Room 205)

Joana Maria PereiraThe intermittent experience: fleeting surfaces

In this talk Joana will present her work and speak about the role of writing in her art practice, focusing both on her recent projects made in the context of her research at the Royal College of Art and the work produced during her MA at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. A significant emphasis of her research project lays on a poetic understanding of the print practice, regarding invisibility, mutability, and touch. Joana makes use of unconventional printing materials —such as make-up powder – exploring their physical and symbolic qualities. These less familiar paths are combined with a sense of how printmaking can simultaneously point towards the past and to a future in which new digital technologies are intrinsic to the medium’s development.
